A Thread Between The Stars

It was some days later that he found out that his name was not Valcen.

It felt as if the universe had made a bookkeeping error. What else could his name be? He remembered it as his. He had plans and aspirations, all of which now allegedly belonged to someone else.

Briefly, it even felt like an injustice – until he learnt what it meant to be Valcen.

Once all options have been exhausted, one must learn to let go. Responsible for the nascence of an entire civilisation, the Threadwielder Evenatra is now trapped on a hostile world that has turned against her and her people. Hunted by a weapon designed to keep her kind away from the planet, her presence has become a toxic influence on the well-being of her people – and yet she remains, driven by the fear that time might erase their legacy entirely if she were to abandon them.

When the outcast Valcen heeds her calls for help, driven by curiosity, ve finds verself confronted with a situation more complex than the laws physics ve is comfortable with would help ver predict. Even as reality undermines vis initial plans and drives ver to seek help of vis own, ve submits to the pervasive misjudgement of any immortal:

What danger could there possibly be in temporary setbacks if one has eternity to make them right?
